by Linda Umans

lotus on anklebone
Celtic Cross on clavicle
SarahJane on bicep
Mother on neck
the gallery is open

signal from Polynesia   tatau
(think Gaugin)   illustrations
in venous blood   colors
from everywhere inked
to physical limits and beyond

Cheryl is proud of her fleshy murals
seven as of Tuesday when I met her
opening her shirt her belt    a revelation

Everybody wants to see the pictures,
and yet nobody wants to see them.*

she's saving up for angel wings
for the space between her shoulderblades
always wanted wings back there
no tattoo regret for her

the gallery is open
the newest are those loved right now
the faded may have faded
